Approximately 15 schools participated in this competition with learners taken from the General Education and Training (GET) band and grades seven to nine. This competition is an environmental awareness programme, which strives to teach children about keeping the environment healthy and clean, since a number of human activities impact negatively on the marine world and the ozone layer.

Teams from Phumelelani Primary School obtained first position in all genres – drama, poetry and project. The school thanks all the educators for being supportive and taking interest in this programme.

Learners were supported in doing their research on marine plants and animals. The school firmly believes that this achievement is through teamwork by the educators in the Early Childhood and Development, Intermediate Phase and Senior Phase.

Lastly, Phumelelani Primary School is grateful to Mrs Sikhosana, the Mimosadale Centre Manager, for allowing them to participate in this educational programme.
