Members of the Road Traffic Inspectorate (RTI) Ladysmith Region Women’s Forum hosted an all-female roadblock

An operation that combined road safety, team building and supporting women unfolded on the Wembezi road this morning.

Members of the Road Traffic Inspectorate (RTI) Ladysmith Region Women’s Forum hosted an all-female roadblock.

This roadblock, and others that will be held in northern KwaZulu-Natal, was initiated by Regional Commander Mr MZ Gumede.

Female RTI officers, who have formed a Women’s Forum, join forces with their colleagues from Estcourt, Ladysmith, Dundee, Greytown, Nquthu and Newcastle to host the roadblocks.

Motorists travelling along the road were pulled over and a check done.

Officers were looking for unroadworthy vehicles, drunk or unlicensed drivers, as well as other offences like speeding and not wearing a safety belt.
