Police believe they have swooped in on the men responsible for the kidnap and murder of a Loskop (Amangwe) herdsman. 42-year-old Theshi Busani Hadebe was in Moyeni, Loskop on December 20 when he was approached and allegedly kidnapped by four people.
“After an intensive investigation, two suspects were arrested in the Stulwane area, Bergville and a licensed firearm and ammunition were recovered,” explained police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbhele.
The suspects were arrested on New Year’s day. The two suspects, aged 42 and 48, are due to make their second court appearance in the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court on January 9 for a bail application.
“The recovered firearm will be sent for ballistic testing to determine whether it may have been used in this crime or any other crime in the country,” added Col Mbhele.
The KwaZulu-Natal Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Bheki Langa welcomed the arrest of the suspects. “I strongly condemned the killing of innocent people and such conduct by criminals cannot be accepted. The detective unit will make sure that this matter is thoroughly investigated and present strong evidence in court that will enable good conviction,” he said.
