Mthoko Sithole’s car was shot at on Thursday afternoon.

Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) members believe that political murders are resurfacing. This was after Mthoko Sithole narrowly missed being shot to death on Thursday. Mr Sithole’s brother was also a victim of violence, as IFP Constituency Chairperson Mthembeni Majola explains: “This incident is followed by brutal killing of his brother Mr Siphiwe Mbho Sithole who was shot and stoned to death near Weenen Combined School on February 4. His funeral was held on February 11.”

Mr Majola is concerned that IFP leaders are being targeted.

“There is politics in these killings, and there is a list of IFP leaders and councillors to be assassinated through political infighting. We need provincial intervention in this matter; it is really serious and disgusting. Different opinions should not cost the lives of our comrades,” he concluded.
