21 arrests for police

A joint effort that included two police stations in the Uthukela Cluster produced good results for police. 21 people were arrested for possession charges.

In Bergville, two people aged 26 and 27, were arrested in Bergville after police officers found them in possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

“The vehicle has since been seized pending further investigation,” commented police spokesperson Captain Charmaine Struwig.

18 people were also arrested for possession of dagga. They were arrested in Estcourt, Weenen, Loskop, Wembezi, Upper Tugela, Ezakheni and Ladysmith. They were found in possession of small quantities of dagga.

“One suspect was arrested after being found in possession of a clothing iron suspected to have been stolen. All the suspects appeared in various magistrate courts in the Cluster on Tuesday,” added Captain Struwig.
