Cattle valued at R180 000 seized in Ngoba

A partnership between police and community members is paying dividends. This is according to police spokesperson Captain Charmaine Struwig who reports that cattle were recently recovered after valuable information from the community.

A tip off received by the commander of the Bergville Stock Theft Unit resulted in the recovery of 12 head of cattle.

“Police were following up on information about cattle being herded in the Ngoba area of Upper Tugela. A group of police officers were activated and rushed to the area. They soon came across the herd. As soon at the men herding the cattle spotted police, they disappeared into the foliage,” explained Captain Struwig.

Police ushered the cattle to the Upper Tugela police station for safe keeping. It has since established that some of the cattle are from the Loskop area.

“The cattle will be taken to the pound while the owners are being traced and further investigation into the matter continues. The cattle is valued at about R180 000,” concluded Captain Struwig.
