Shooting at tavern in Estcourt

On Saturday evening, a 30-year-old man who was under the influence of alcohol tried gain entry to a tavern.

When security guards at the premises refused him entry, he went to his vehicle and returned with a firearm.

He began to shoot indiscriminately. A 32-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound to his leg during the shooting.

The suspect was later arrested by police. His firearm as well as other evidence was seized. He was charged for attempted murder and appeared in the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

The injured man is in a stable condition.
