Diwali is a time synonymous with feasting and opulence. From designer outfits to decadent desserts, it is a memorable day to celebrate with family and friends.
To share this time of joyousness and triumph of good, the Estcourt Hindu Cultural Society extends a helping hand to families that are in need.
Each year Diwali hampers are diligently sorted and packed by the members and volunteers before being distributed.
This year, 200 food hampers were part of the Diwali Hamper distribution drive.
The society identified five schools – Thembalihle Combined, Hoye Secondary, Riversdale Primary, Inkosi Mjwayeli Primary and Champagne Valley Primary.
Educators from the schools then chose the most deserving learners whose families would benefit from the food parcels, which contain family essentials. The Diwali hampers will be distributed to the schools and then in turn to the deserving families.
